The Glenview Transfer Station

• This 82,000 square-foot garbage processing facility is centrally located to the Region and opened to member communities on February 1, 1994.

• Savings include a reduction in transportation, labor and maintenance costs, air emissions and blowing litter.

• All garbage is handled inside of the building and only collection vehicles that are registered with SWANCC may "tip" or empty their loads.

• Garbage is transported to the Winnebago Landfill, owned and operated by William Charles Waste Companies near Rockford, Illinois.

• Landscape waste is collected separately and also taken to Pheasant Run Landfill to be composted.

• Approximately 300,000 tons of garbage are processed from member communities annually.
